Greg and I became members of Chapter R in the spring of 2002 shortly after we were married on March 17 in 2002. We will soon be celebrating our 7 year anniversaries in the next few weeks. The last seven years have just flown by and we have enjoyed having R’ be part of our lives. Before we joined R, we were members of W2. We still have our old friends in W2 and now, we have many new friends in R; twice the friends - twice the fun.

Greg has been riding bikes all his life; his parents tell me stories about his first bike, a Rupp, at age 8. He was a very accomplished dirt bike rider racer and had a pending contract to ride for Yamaha until he had a serious accident. He was able to recover and riding again but he was not able to resume a racing career. He traded the dirt trails for the highways. There a few states he has not traversed on a bike. One of his favorite trips was to Sturgis, South Dakota in 1995. Just ask him what it was like to follow two Harley’s across the country for 3 weeks.

My riding experience is not as colorful. I owned a Yamaha 125 while I was in college at Texas A&M. (never mind the year) I was close friends with the owners of University Cycle and they encouraged me to dabble a little in dirt bike racing. When I moved to Dallas, I just couldn’t compete with the traffic and reverted to a four wheeler fulltime. I began riding again when I started running around with Greg but this time it was as a co-rider. In 2005, Greg purchased a Kawasaki 750 Vulcan for me so I could enjoy riding also.

Greg and I met when we worked for a company called Electronic Form Systems. Greg and I worked together for over 15 years before we started dating. Greg bought his Gold Wing shortly after we begin dating. He felt “we” could travel better on the Gold Wing than on his 1983 V65 Magna.

In our spare time, we both work full time jobs and raised a daughter who recently graduated from OSU. Greg is a Network Engineer for Tarrant Appraisal District and I was a Professor and the Dean of Technology at DeVry University for a number of years. Now I am self-employed with our own small computer consulting company and currently looking for full time employment.

Greg was raised on a dairy farm in northwest Pennsylvania and accepted a job in Dallas after graduating from The School of Computer Technology in Pennsylvania. I am a Texas native; actually born in Dallas. Texas A & M is my Alma Matter, so all Aggie jokes are welcome.

Currently we have 4 motorcycles in our garage and a motorcycle camper. The cars live outside. We live in Coppell and hope you can visit us on one of the progressive dinner rides. We look forward to working for Chapter R as couple ambassadors. If we can help you, please let us know.

We have been members of Chapter R since June 1996. Chapter R has been a part of our family for almost 12 years. During that time, we have seen a lot of members come and go and some ups and downs of the Chapter, but R always survives. We have made a lot of friendships through these years. Chapter R has become an important part of our lives. We have held numerous positions within the chapter, including Chapter Director, Assistant CD, Ways and Means, Couple of the Year and Rally Coordinator.

We hope we can make the chapter proud of us as R’s Chapter Couple. As most of you know GWRRA and R are both very special to us and we will try to be ambassador’s for both.

If there is anything you feel you need to ask us to do or not do, please feel free to talk to us. We are here to represent the membership. We hope to make R proud.

We just want to say thanks to Jim and Tish for honoring us with the position of Chapter Couple of the Year for Chapter R. It is an honor for us to be chosen. We also want to thank everyone else who wished us well.

Our new Chapter Directors, Jim and Tish, have said it...
...So Let it Be Written…
... So Let it Be Done!

It's time to “HAVE FUN”!! Forget work; forget finances; forget problems; forget mowing the lawn. Get on your bike, let’s go for a ride and have fun!

We are looking forward to another great year with Chapter R, this time as your Couple of the Year. It is an honor to have been chosen to represent Chapter R and we are dedicated to promoting Jim and Tish’s motto, to have fun.

Having fun is a mindset. Sometimes you have to dig deep to achieve the proper frame of mind, but it is always there. If you have the proper mindset, even doing chores can be turned into fun.

Some of the factors that can bring out that fun mindset are friends, time off, good food, a beautiful day, a working motorcycle, a twisty road. The list is actually endless. As Bill Carnes says, “Any day I wake up on this side of the grass, is a good day.” Look for the good…be positive…Carpe Diem!

Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving.
Make every day a holiday, and celebrate just living.

Amanda Bradley

We hope to see you soon.

As you slide down the banisters of life,
May the splinters never point the wrong way!

Louis and I are so delighted to be your C.O.Y and represent Chapter "R" and GWRRA Association! It is our sincere hope to spend time and get to know each and everyone of our new friends and to make many new ones. Our mission is to make the Chapter proud of us as "R"s Chapter Ambassadors.

We came to Chapter "R" in October 2009. My riding experience is very little and only as a Co-Rider. Louis has been riding all over the countryside since 1955, my riding history is only since I met him in 2008 and what a "SWEET RIDE" so far.  We have been on many trips to Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and to a lot of different places in Texas such as Big Bend, Palo Duro Canyon, Fort Davis, and the Hill Country just to name a few. We have traveled to Smoky Mountains and North Carolina..

Louis Potts. I was born and raised in Nashville, TN. Played Football and Basketball in School. I was in the Army from 1964 until 1966 and served 1 year in Vietnam. When I  returned from service, I tried many career's and decided to enter driving school and became a truck driver.  I drove a bus for country singer Freddy Hart ("Easy Lovin'" was a hit song for him) for 3 years and all the rest of the time was cross country driving.  I spent 20 years delivering new trucks for a company called Active U.S.A.  I spent 42 years on the road.  I starting riding motor cycles in 1955.  My first two bikes were Indians. I also rode BSA, Triumph and Harley. I finally got smart in 2003 and bought a new Gold Wing and love the "sweet ride."  I retired in 2007 had a triple by-pass in 2008.  I love, life, people and going places like Bluegrass Festivals and having fun with my friends. I love music and play various string instruments.

Dotty Doyle.  I grew up and attended school in the small town of Nocona, TX., where the famous Nocona Boots were made.  Justin leather belts are still made there today.  The well known "Nokona" baseballs and baseball glove which was founded by the Storey family in 1934 are still made there today.  It is the only place in U.S. where such ball glove is laced by hand.  Nearly all professional ball teams all over the country use these gloves and balls.  I retired from the State of Texas in 1997  after 30 years of service. During that time, I served on a number of  State Committee's. One of which is the Texas State Group Insurance Advisory Committee.  I also worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) where I retired from the Federal Government in 2008.  I enjoy riding and traveling the country side.  I enjoy playing piano, dancing and attending Bluegrass Festivals.  I enjoy people and love to live each day to the fullest.

2012 Couple of the Year

Murray and Amy Allen
Almost 19 years ago, Texas became our new home, having arrived originally from Toronto and Chicago respectively. We are the proud parents of two children, Sara and Josh.  Two Labs and one little Jack Russell complete our family.  Sharing Murray's passion for riding his Goldwing, Amy joined as a rider of her own 1100 Shadow.

2012 will celebrate 34 years of marriage, three years of friendship and riding with Chapter R, and a new adventure as Couple of the Year. Our new motto is:  "Doing it R way"!  Education will be a strong focus to promote safety for everyone.  Our emphasis will be in getting everyone involved: participation fuels participation!  We hope to bring a variety of riding and social events to our members with a blend of old traditions and new ideas to help keep Chapter R strong.
